Volunteer firefighters play a vital role in protecting our community. Under the guidance of Fire Officers, you will respond to a wide range of calls — from life-threatening emergencies to assisting residents with everyday safety concerns.

As a volunteer, you may be involved in:

Fire suppression and rescue operations

Emergency medical assistance

Training and skills development

Building inspections and fire safety education

Eligibility
-
18 years of age or older
-
Live in close proximity to the fire hall
-
Valid G-class driver’s licence
-
High school diploma (or equivalent)
-
No criminal record
Training & Requirements
-
Recruit Training: Two weekends per month from January to July, leading to NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II certification exams
-
Licence Upgrade: Obtain an Ontario DZ driver’s licence within one year of hire
-
Ongoing Practice: Two evenings per month​
-
Station Duties: Complete monthly truck checks
What You’ll Do
Volunteer firefighters are compensated for training, emergency response, and assigned station duties.

You will:

Carry a pager and respond to fire and rescue emergencies, including hazardous environments
-
Participate in ongoing training and equipment maintenance
-
Operate within a chain of command and follow established procedures
-
Support public education activities and community events
